© Pendle Forest History Group 2010 webservices from webfactorynorthwest.co.uk Pendle Forest is a fascinating melting pot of people, places, events and industries with a rich history going back several thousands of years. From neolithic settlements and iron age discoveries, through the dark and middle ages, the religious and social persecution of the infamous 17th Century Lancashire Witches and the transition from agriculture  to industry, Pendle Forest has seen many varied influences. The Pendle Forest History Group has been formed by members to provide the opportunity to discuss and discover more of the local history in the area. We have already researched, investigated and collected a significant number of relevant documents and established data on a number of important and interesting sites. But there are still so many more. However, we must point out that as we are a group of amateur local history enthusiasts rather than genealogy experts, we are unable to undertake specific requests relating to individual family history. We are supported by The Forest Of Bowland Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (FOB AONB) www.forestofbowland.com who have provided funding from the National Lottery to allow us to access professional archaeological services from Oxford Archaeology North (OAN) www.oxfordarch.co.uk for landscape investigation and data recording.
